(TGA) - I am looking at another way to get from Miami to Whitefish, MT.
I have located cheap flights to Seattle or Spokane, and thought of taking the Amtrak to Montana from either of these airports(preferably Spokane).
Can anyone advise on this, since it will be the dead of winter...and I am from sunny Miami? Thank you!

The train is a lot of fun, but it can run late.
Keep in mind that it stops in Spokane in the middle of the night, around midnight. Also, flights to Spokane are not usually "cheap". So you might be better off to start the train trip in Seattle.

Thanks for your advice. I will begin to check further into a Seattle starting point.
I did think it was an odd time to meet the train, but I wanted to look at both options!

Spokane should not be much different than Seattle, depending on where you fly in from. The train is at night, so now views at all, pulling in to Whitefish at about 6:30 am (the last time I took it that was the schedule). Driving is slow in january due to typical (but not always) snow pack on the roads. This is the coldest month and the valley is much colder than say SPokane, be prepared.

Have you considered flying into Kalispell (FCA). Delta has flights there and it is only about 20 miles from Whitefish.
