(TGA) - Travel - We are planning our first trip to Slovenia and will be spending 3 nights near Ljubljana. I have heard that tourist farms a great way to enjoy Slovenia and to meet local people. Does anyone have recommendations for some of these places that would be located near Ljubljana? Thank you in advance.

Try:

and choose region. Ljubljana is unfortunately not listed. Try "Gorenjska" (NW), "Notranjska" (S) or "Dolenjska" (SE) and see Google Earth for the distances.

Ljubljana, Vodice and Radomlje are the three farms close to Ljubljana. However, I guess that the farms near Bled, Mojstrana and Bohinj may provide a more authentic experience.
I hope someone else will answer. I've never been to a tourist farm and cannot imagine myself staying there. Most people are very satisfied though.

Thank you both so much for your helpful responses. We are hoping to find somewhere that is fairly modern. Does anyone else have anymore suggestions?

I wish I could help. If you do a Google search on "Slovenia tourist farms" you will find a lot of raw info. Here's an article that you might find of interest while you look.

Hello. We own a small touristic farm near Ljubljana, Touristic farm Petek, 17 km from Ljubljana, about 25 min drive. We are registered and rent rooms, or appartments. Upon wish breakfast and dinner is served.
If interested do not hesitate to contact us.

Hello there fellow Canucks!
Tourist farms are a great way to go but you won't find many near Ljubljana itself because they're farms and obviously found further away from the capital.
There's a multitude of tourist farms near Bled, up in the Logarska Dolina, in the Karst area. The Tourist farm Skerlj and Hudicevec are good options in the Karst area within reach of the caves and other sights.
The tourist farm at Kobarid called the Kranjc also gets rave reviews and is a good base for the Soca Valley.
Check out the Klemensek as well in the Logarska Dolina as an example. Amazing views.
Hope that helps a little!

Slovenia is a small country. If you do not mind driving 30 minutes to Ljubljana, then you can look in a range of 40-50 km around Ljubljana.
If you like to meat real "Slovenian" people, go to DOLENJSKA region as that area is not spoiled with tourists. And there is a nice wine region. Just another suggestion :-)
Or better choose SAVINJSKA region, around CELJE. Why? Because if you find a nice farm around Celje (one of the biggest Slovenian towns), you can on motorway reach Maribor (2nd biggest town) in less than 1 hour and also reach Ljubljana in less than 1 hour.
