(TGA) - Travel - We are planning a family trip to the Virginia Beach area in July. We realize this is peak season and we don’t mind staying outside Va Beach in Chesapeake or Norfolk area. Are there any suggestions on which area is better in terms of safety, dining, entertainment? How long will it take us to get to VA Beach oceanfront from these areas? Any thoughts on the Greenbrier Area in Chesapeake? I saw a relatively new Springhill’s Suite in Chesapeake on Crossways Blvd. ?

The Greenbrier area has a number of new hotels along Crossways Blvd. You'll find plenty of restaurants and shopping centers nearby. Easy access to the interstate heading to the beach about 25 minutes away.
Have you looked at hotels in the city of VB but not at the beach? At Town Center and along Euclid Rd and Bonney Rd are several good hotels. They'll be less expensive than oceanfront. Look for Hilton Garden Inn, Candlewood Suites, InTown Suites, Extended Stay, Crown Plaza. Then a little bit further away off Newtown Rd and Greenwich Rd you'll find Holiday Inn, Courtyard, Red Roof Inn, Hampton Inn, SpringHill Suites.
Let us know if any of these look doable, and post more questions as they occur to you.
