(TGA) - We need a place for our family in January to celebrate my daughter graduating from HPU. We want to be on the beach. Please tell us somethings to do. How do you get to the volcano? Any good deals or tours. I can;t seem to find condos or hotels that are on a great beach. I don't want to drive to a beach when we have some many to put in the car. We are all over 21.

There is just one condo on the beach here, Kolea. While most of the Gold Coast hotels have a "sandpatch" the only one with a really nice beach is the Mauna Kea. Hapuna Prince and the Marriott are both next to and a short walking distance of a nice beach.
You can drive to the Volcano National Park, it's a full day tour, or take a helo/fixed-wing tour.
What to do?! It's a big island. You can check the "101 Things To Do On The Big Island" or use the search function above.

There are lots of oceanfront condos and houses on the Big Island.. more options if you are willing to give up a beach.

I know it is never a good idea to disagree or challenge a destination expert on these forums, but is kolea really ON a beach?
If the answer is "closest to being on a beach is kolea" then I agree.
But there is a row of houses between the condo's and the beach.
You also have to share the path with the "shoreline access" parking lot then go almost through part of the Marriott property.
They are clearly the closest.... but on the beach? hmmm. not so sure.

Kolea is a gated subdivision consisting of condos and houses. The property is legally ocean front and there is nothing else between the property and the beach.
