(TGA) - My family and I are driving from northern New Jersey to Smugglers' Notch. Smugglers' Notch website shows two driving routes - the first, NYS Thruway through Albany and up through western Vermont to Burlington, the other via I-91 and I-89. Which route is quickest?

I am thinking the 91/89 will seem faster as it is all highway although the Albany route is more direct. Of course, weather conditions make a huge difference. Mapquest shows that 91/89 is about 30-40 minutes longer certeris parabus (all things being equal)

Many thanks for your quick response. My friend drove up to Stowe via Albany quite some time ago. With night driving and bad weather, the drive wound up taking 8 1/2 hours.

And last Xmas I left Plainsboro, NJ for NH and it took 7 hours to get to Hartford, Ct. Just have to plan your trip around the weather. :)
But, the good news is that if you hit that bad weather and finally reach your destination, then the conditions are usually great!!!
