(TGA) - We are thinking of renting a house during the first week of April for spring break. How's the weather/water at this time? We are from northern Indiana, so it's got to be warmer than here.
Thanks!

Since no one else has responded I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents, or is that 25 cents now with inflation.... I've only been to DI during the late spring and summer months but I do live in South Louisiana. April is generally a beautiful time of year here, beautiful days but possible cool early mornings and evenings. But to you in Indiana, that should be nice. I expect water to be cool but again, to you up north it could be more tolerable than us southern folks.
A real perk though for April is that it's migratory bird time, and DI is one of the most prime spots in the entire US for spotting these beautiful birds. I would highly recommend you make the trip. If you do, please post a trip report afterwards. http://www.coastalbirding.org/ Search on International Migratory Bird Festival, I think that's what it's called. I want to make a trip for that one year before long.

Great! I appreciate your reponse. The migrating birds should be a beautiful site. We'll have to be sure to bring our binoculars. Thanks again!

Another something very special about this time of year is a visit to Bellingrath Gardens, maybe 20 miles north of Dauphin Island. Azaleas should be in full bloom in late March to early April. Another beautiful and colorful site. Check their website too. http://www.bellingrath.org/
