(TGA) - Hi Texas. I'm from way far from Texas and I'm going to be in Mcallen for about 20 days next month and was wondering about activities? I like to swim for exercise and I noticed there was an aquatic center, but it was unclear when ppl could lap swim. Anyway, I'm wondering what there is to do after work/on weekends. I'm getting too old (40''s) to bar-hop, but enjoy a beer now and then. I really like good authentic Mexican food, and steak also. The old "table for one" applies, so if there is a decent sports bar where I can catch some basketball and a good meal, that would be a bonus. I'm thinking weekend trips to S. Padre are in order, but I've never been, so any advice on that would be helpful. I am somewhat of a history buff, and am thinking about a drive to Rio Lobo just because of John Wayne. Thanks y'all!
