(TGA) - We are planning a weekend visit just before Christmas break (before schools get out in Iowa, but not sure when schools get out in WI).
Looking into the Wilderness and Kalahari. How busy should I expect the indoor waterparks to be during this time? I think the Kalahari is open to the public. I can get a less expensive room rate at the Kalahari than at the Wilderness, but if the waterpark will be packed, it might be worth the extra $ at the Widerness.

Weekends will be busy in Mid-December. Not "summer" busy, but busy.
I wouldn't worry too much about those general public users at the Kalahari. Some people make it sound like the place gets over-run with this evil "general public" when in fact they are paying $40 per person per day for the waterpark, and the number of tickets sold are limited based on how many guests there are at the hotel.
If you can book Kalahari cheaper, I'd do it.

Have a great trip. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Most people won't be traveling much in December, until the holiday time itself. I am betting they get quite busy then. You are smart to be taking a hoiday weekend before the official start of the vacation time from schools. Have fun!
