(TGA) - Travel - dear icelandic guide i desperately need your help
me and my wife are planning a 15 day visit to iceland mid july
this is our first visit to iceland and we have been saving for quite a while to finance this vacation so thats why both of us would like to make our visit beyond our imagination a visit that we will never forget.
we are both very interested in scenery and the beauty of nature (lakes,rivers,waterfalls,landscapes) and we would love to take horse rides ,skidooing on the glacier, sailing on the ice lagoon among the seals, dogsledding .
i know this is probably too much to ask icelandic guide but i need your help scheduling our trip . i have been reading alot but there are so many different views and nobody here knows where to go in iceland more than you . Please icelandic guide help us make our dream come true .
one last thing we are thinking about booking at farms which have rooms with private facilities do u think this is a good idea or should we stick to hotels.

You ask for a lot !
But the first thing you need to do, is to decide on the vehicle you are going to use. A regular 2WD limits your travels to firs and second class roads (1, 2 and 3 digits, but no ,,F" roads)
The accommodation you choose (farmstays or cabins with cooking facilities) is very wise, See: www.accommodation.is and www.sveit.is
For itinerary, I would recommend you to look at itinerarys that have been given here on the forum, or go to the sites of tour agents and get clues from there.
You need to start booking accommodation right now, specially in areas like Skaftafell/ice lagoon and Myvatn.

Frommer's or Lonely Planet editions on Iceland will give you good starting points to cobble up your own plan. I recommend that you purchase one or both of these travel guides.

I agree - what is wrong with using a professional agent or guide or tour operator?
It can make the difference between groping around in the dark and being shown the light!

You can also use this guide book <Around Iceland> to help you. It is published in Iceland by Icelanders. It is a free distribution, paid in full by advertising. So with information about places to see, activities and every kind of service you need. It is a good place to start. And I know that the 2010 issue will be ready soon.
