(TGA) - I am trying to decide between staying at The Morning Side Inn, located at 235 West 107 Street New York, NY 10025-3096 OR the Comfort Inn Manhatten located at 42 West 35th Street, New York, NY 10001. Any suggestions?
I want to be close to attractions like, Wicked at the Gershwin, Central Park and the MET. But for a cheaper price I will go with The Morningside Inn if I can travel to these places easily by subway or bus. How would I get to these attractions from the Morningside Inn?
Thanks for any feedback!

The Comfort Inn, without a doubt.
The Morningside Inn currently has a stop work order for unsafe conditions and an active complaint about operating illegally in a residential building.

Avoid the Morningside Inn and the Comfort Inn is no bargain either... what are the exact dates of travel and what is your nightly room budget before 15% tax is added on. I suspect from your choices it is pretty low.

West 107th St. is not within walking distance of any major tourist attractions. You would have to take a cab, bus or subway. You would be much better off at West 35th St. It is not far from Broadway Times Square, etc.

Well, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Central Park are within walking distance.
But the primary problem is that Morningside Inn appears to be an illegal hotel operating in unsafe conditions.

no matter where you stay the only walking distance you need be concerned about is the distance to the nearest subway stop and learning the subway system. Avoid the Morningside Inn

I don't know of any hotel in the area of 107th Street on the West Side..Interestingly enough, was stopped a while back months ago for directions to this place..I figured out from the address it was off Broadway heading over to Amsterdam..but was suprised to even hear of it since as far as I know, the block is residential..along w/Ascension Church!

Thanks for the suggestions. I am traveling 3/11 - 3/15. I would like to pay no more than $100 night (including taxes.)
I am relieved to know location is not as big a deal due to subway, bus, etc. Of course i am a little nervous about being able to use these modes of transportation...
So if not Morningside or Comfort Inn, what do you suggest that is within my budget?

Look at the Country Inn and Suites in Long Island city.

In general you can't find a clean, legal hotel in Manhattan with private bathroom for $100 including taxes. If you can find the Comfort Inn Manhattan for that and you're sure it's a private bathroom, I'd book it. If you're arriving at either JFK or LGA, the Country Inn & Suites in LIC is one stop from Manhattan by subway and a very nice option that includes breakfast.
