(TGA) - We're planning a trip to Revelstoke from Vermont. We can either fly from Montreal or Burlington, VT ( limited direct flights). Please advise which is the best way to go from VT to get to Revelstoke most direct?
Thanks

Kamloops would be nearest airport though not an international one. Calgary and Vancouver would both require about 5 hour drive to get to Revelstoke.

The other option for us would be Kicking Horse. I think it's closer to Kamloops / Calgary?

Kicking Horse is at Golden, BC - that's about a 3.5 hour drive from Calgary. Here is it, plotted on mapquest: http://www.mapquest.com/mq/2-9wrV
If you are thinking of flying into Kamloops, WestJet has a seat sale on now - lowest fares from Calgary to Kamloops (YKA) are $190 round trip, including taxes. www.westjet.com

Kelowna or Calgary are the closest International airports to Revelstoke. Coin toss which is closest but I would guess the best route would be to drive from Kelowna.
I believe flights from Denver to Kelowna are available.
Any other questions.

Also daily flights from Seattle to Kelowna on Horizon Air.If you are going to Revelstoke for skiing I have seen Shuttles around the Kelowna airport that transport people to Revelstoke. It is 200 km or 120 miles drive from Kelowna and about a 3 hour drive.

Fly to Kelowna. It is a 2.5 hr drive and you can rent a car at the airport. If you go to Calgary the highway between Golden (kicking horse) and Revelstoke is often closed for avalanche control. It is an amazing hill - enjoy.

Do you know if the road from Vancouver to Revelstoke is any more reliable in winter? Thinking of renting a 4x4 from Vancouver and making my way over in the course of a day.

FrankDerbin,
You would be best to start your own topic - "Add a new topic" - because you are tucked away at #7 of someone else's 8 month old thread. Hard to notice you. A new topic would make you a new original poster which everyone would then see when they open up the topic. You would probably get better results.

The roads in all directions can be difficult in the winter due to snow, that is why the ski hill is so good.
There are no flights to Kelowna from Denver, but there are from Seattle, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver or Toronto. Your best bet would be to go Montreal to Toronto and on to Kelowna, both Air Canada and Westjet should be able to do this route.

Great..thanks for the response..actually I'll be coming from Australia (via HK) so Toronto wouldn't be overly efficient..heheh. I guess it's either Vancouver or Calgary, but flying into Kelowna sounds like a good option too! Thanks again :)
