(TGA) - I have a business trip taking me to Vermont, Nov 14 weekend. Have always wanted to eat Maine lobsters so I'm looking for a good, reliable place in Maine. Any recommendations? Preferably somewhere close to NH/Maine border as I will be driving down from Burlington, VT and it will have to be a quick road trip.
If none of the lobster pounds or local hangouts are open so late in the year, then I will have to scrap this idea....
Thanks!
Linda

Lobster is available year-round in Maine, but many "lobster in the rough" places would be closed by then due to cooler temperatures. (It's hard to enjoy the melted butter when it keeps hardening up!)
However, Burlington, VT is not a "quick" road trip to the Maine border. Maybe the western Maine experts will chime in with a plan.

I grew up in Western Maine close to the New Hampshire border.
Bay Haven Lobster is located in Cornish, ME and is open year round. I looked it up on Mapquest, and it would be about a 4 hour drive from Burlington. It could make for a long day on the road.

Alas, I know Maine isn't a quick trip from Burlington, VT.... but I'll probably overnight somewhere along the way to break up the trip. I was able to find some restaurants/bars/eateries on the Maine Lobster Council (www.lobsterfrommaine.com/visitmaine.aspx) that had a bunch of places that looked promising (focusing on "year round" ones):
Robert's Maine Grill
Beach Plum Lobster Farm
Mike's Clam Shack
They look decent according to
