(TGA) - I'm taking a road trip with my 69-year-old mother and my 2-year-old daughter from Colorado to Minnesota and back. On our trip out there, we are driving through most of Nebraska. We are making overnight stops in Grand Island, NE and Sioux Falls, SD. The first stretch from Colorado to Grand Island (via I-80) is about 6 3/4 hours and the second from Grand Island to Sioux Falls (via Hwy 30, Hwy 81, Hwy 46 and I-29) is about 4 1/2 hours.
Do you have an advice on good places to stop during these 2 legs of the trip to eat a picnic lunch, get out and stretch our legs, let the little one run around a bit? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

One place that I like to stop on my way from Omaha to Denver is Ole's Big Game Bar in Paxton, NE. My kids love it. While we eat they love looking and talking about all the animals. It is a small town restaurant with an amazing collection of big game animals. There is about every animal you can imagine is located in this place. It is very, very casual and laid back. I believe there is a small park down the road.
The rest areas in Nebraska on I-80 are fairly decent if you want to picnic. There is not playground equipment but it would be a place for your daughter to run around.

Thank you, Megan, for the advice. I appreciate it. Paxton looks to be a good "half-way" point along our route, so we might have to check out Ole's. Good to know the rest stops are fairly decent. I'm sure we'll be stopping at those too.
