(TGA) - My husband and I are thinking of taking a trip to Oklahoma in April. It is one of the states we have not yet visited and also, my grandmother was born in Henryetta, OK so I wanted to visit there. Could anyone advise me on the best area of Tulsa to stay in? I have read some previous posts and saw some information on the Riverwalk.
Any information will be appreciated.

The area around the airport isn't great, atlhough there are hotels there. Mind you, it's not what I'd consider unsafe, it's just there's not a thing at all to do there. The Riverwalk area is on the soutwest side of the city, and is a good area. Very safe, clean, etc. The Oklahoma Aquarium is right there too.

Here is nearby lodging for the Riverwalk area. The Holiday Inn Express is right next door to the aquarium, and within walking distance of the Riverwalk. There are several decent restaurants nearby, but don't count on Riverwalk for a shopping experience for more than a couple of hours. The small city of Jenks, which is where Riverwalk is actually located (just across the river from Tulsa) is a smaller, upscale community that has a lot of antique stores there, if that's your thing. They are closed on Sundays mostly. The nice thing about this area for you is that it (south Tulsa, Jenks area) is the direction you'll be going from the airport to Henryetta. This part of town is about a 20 min drive from the airport.
Tulsa has a couple of good museums, and the Gilcrease is nationally known for western art.

Woolaroc has a musem (not as good as the first two) but a huge gun collection you can see, and outdoors areas where you can see buffalo and other animals.

Tulsa has a peforming arts center that offers shows which rival big city shoes (many are the touring versions of those shows), and an exceptional orchestra.

Oops, here's the lodging for the Riverwalk area. As mentioned the Hol Inn is right there. The others are a few miles away. There is also a massive casino near the others (close to the Hilton), if that's your thing. No hotel there though.

I stayed at the Best Western by the aquarium, which was fine. I usually stay at the DoubleTree (either one) though...
