(TGA) - hey!
me and my friend are planning a 16 day trip.
we were planning on visiting svalbard, and then norway, finland and sweden. spending 4 days in each.
we have since thought it might be better to miss out finland and visit there on a seperate holiday to allow us more time in each of the other places.
we would like to go in early august [2nd-18th].
what we are having trouble with is the svalbard part. we have found various ways and places in norway itself and sweden, but information for svalbard is a bit sketchy.
can anyone help at all??
we would like to see polar bears and all other exciting things like that! we would like to do the dog sledding and snowmobiling, but it doesnt really matter where we do that i guess.
questions i have at the moment are...
where can we fly from to get to svalbard? how much will it cost at that time of year roughly? which part are we best off visiting?? where is there to stay other than the radisson?? how long would be advisable to stay there for? and so on
thank you in advance!!!
xx

Here are some Svalbard links for you:

Your plan to do Norway - Finland - Sweden is very general. Each is a major country on its own - offering lots of choices of what to see and do. Each is also worthy a visit for the same kind of period you now plan for all 3 of them.
Get yourself some good guide books or look up the web for information, and you will see why:

Flying to Svalbard is mostly (or only) from Tromsø. Make sure to read up on Svalbard because it is a very special place, for instance deciding on what time to go there is essential.
Also note that Svalbard is far away and the Nordic area is also wide. 4 days in each country is very little for traveling so far. If you are coming from the UK, perhaps not necessary to cover all the nordic countries in one trip.
