Does anyone know if nuts are allowed into Italy.

Why di you wish to bring them? Nuts are readily available in Italy.

How many nuts are you planning to bring into the country? I really don't know anything about this, but I would venture to say that if you're just bringing in a bag of nuts for your personal consumption - there should be no problem. If you're thinking of bringing in a boatload, you might want to talk to an Italian consulate for the proper info.

Probably seems like a funny question. Want to bring a couple cans of planters mixed nuts with me for a break from pasta and fish. Been to Italy before and love the scenery but not big on the food. Thought I would bring a couple cans of planters mixed nuts, but don't want to lose them going in. I know meat and dairy is a no no but wasn't sure about nuts. Google search isn't turning up anything specific.

As long as they're roasted you're OK. Pecans are specifically mentioned as allowed, so I guess the rest follow.

Whoops - almonds and derived products are possibly prohibited due to the aflatoxins usually found in them - so eat the almonds on the way here.
"These restrictions only apply to consignments greater than 5kg and to food products containing 10% or more of almonds and derived products." I'll leave it to you to work out exactly what that means.

This poster also wrote on the Rome forum. He got through customs with the nuts.
I agree with Roberts. Italians adore nuts and you can buy them in any market! Why take up the space bringing in cans of nuts when they sell them on he street corners?

It might make life simpler for you to know that they do sell nuts in Italy!

I brought about 15 packages of nuts (small single serving packages from Costco) & I had no problem. I brought them so we'd have snacks when needed (on trains, planes, etc.).
