I think there may be a printing error here!! I'm disappointed to even see the question.
The short answer is YES .. get off the boat and you will see probably more real history in the few hours you are there than in a lifetime in other parts of the world .(especially the "New" countries)

Malta is a terrible place it was awful on New Yeas Day sitting drinking coffee on St Pauls Bay in 23 degees really terrible so we decided that we would have to return fo Easter to sample more of that terrible place might have to look at Paradice Bay this time.

Why cruise and not get off at port???
There is so much to see in Malta that you could visit for 2 weeks and not see everything
Make sure you are on deck as you enter port, quite a spectacular port, one of the best in the Med
