I want to link this to Top Questions About Alaska.
If anyone else has any favorite Alaska weather/precipitation/sunrise-sunset data websites, please feel free to add them to this thread.
Here is a link to sunrise/sunset data for Alaska. SImply click on the next month at the bottom & you can scroll through to see any month of the year:

Here is a link for precipitation averages for most locations in Alaska month by month. It really lets you see how greatly it varies from location to location. For example, September can be the rainiest month in Cooper Landing while it's a drier summer month in Healy:

Here is temperature, precipitation & sunshine data for Anchorage, Juneau & Nome:

Denalicat,
That's great information. The following web site will also give you twilight times, the light time available between sunset and total darkness, as well as the reverse dawn and sunrise. Good for planning driving trips and time to wake up at sea or on the water. Just have to insert the town name and date.

I use the following site for sunrise/sunset data:
sunrisesunset.com/custom_srss_calendar.asp
You can choose a city from the drop-down list or type in another city. You can also choose to display civil twilight, nautical twilight and/or astronomical twilight.

You can pick a different location here:

Scroll down for a weather data chart (temperature & precipitation) for Fairbanks:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairbanks,_Alaska
The record highs & lows are shocking- travelers need to be prepared for possible extremes!

Here's a GREAT weather data site that our friend Frommy recommended:
http://www.weatherbase.com/
It has everything for every city, month by month averages. Thanks Frommy!
To get to Alaska, click on US, then Alaska, then the specific city.

For the statistical odds of rain, shine or temperature or wind, or even if you want to know how much the temperature changes from daytime to night time,,
Go to www.wunderground.com
and look for "Travel & Activities" in the top menu bar. Rest your cursor on it and choose "Trip Planner", then enter the dates and place of interest. At the bottom of the page of statistics that appears will be several graphs showing the changes during the 24 hour day.

Since-71,
I am impressed with the display given from that site. Used in conjunction with Weatherbase, to give an overall picture of climatic patterns, it certainly presents a clearer picture for the potential visitor.
I have just had a look at Anchorage details on both sites, and note that Weatherbase for that city is based on 42 years of accumulated data, while Weather Underground has only analysed 15 years of data. There would probably be little difference anyway, and, lets face it, the weather in many areas is a crapshoot anyway, particularly in the last few weeks here in NSW where we have experienced more rain than we have seen in many years.
Now to go and have a play for my next potential trip, which might be a bit further to the west of Western Australia. :)
(Edit) p.s. I used to use Weather Underground years ago but found their site then to be very clunky. This new one I like.
