(TGA) - Leaving to drive to Washington DC from Indiana on 11/05. Was thinking of hitting Gettysburg maybe Friday. Is it better to go into DC during the weekend? Maybe less traffic and less crowds or is it better to go during the week?

In general there is less traffic in town on the weekend. But traffic can easily clog up on 270 or 495 outside of town even on Saturday or Sunday. I said the following in reply to your previous post: once you have arrived at your hotel, leave your car parked until you leave town again. Get a hotel located close to a metro station and use a combination of metro and walking to get around. I think you will enjoy DC. It is a beautiful city with an amazing amount of things to do. I believe you will be planning your next trip as you head home from this first one. Enjoy!
