(TGA) - Hi,
I am planning to travel to WhiteFish, MT from Seattle during the thanksgiving vacation (3 days). Please suggest places to visit. What areas of the Glacier national park are accessible during that period? Will fall colors be visible during that time? 3 adults and a 5 year old kid will be travelling. Any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Are you driving out? That's quite a bit of driving for a 3 day break. Maybe you're driving 2 days of the 5-day weekend?

This is a bit tough this time of year. All colors are gone, except for white. Park is open on the west up to the head of Lake McD. which is a nice drive. The gate is closed here and it is a good 4 mi. walk to avalanche creek. The outside road to Polebridge is open. It is a rough road for a good part of the way, but very scenic and the Merc has great baked goods.
Bigfork may hae some cultural events, mucic and plays, otheriwse I think it is pretty quiet in the valley. There is an activities page on the Chamber site, maybe there are some other events going on then.

Thank you very much. Can you recommend any scenic drive about 2-3 hours from whitefish. Also, is there any recommended places to see while traveling from Seattle to WhiteFish. We are a little flexible with the dates and dont mind stopping over to see something really beautiful.

From Seattle to the Flathead, a slower but more scenic route would be to cut off of I-90 at Coeur d'Alene up to Sandpoint and then east on Hwy 2 to Hwy 93, then up through St. Igantious (national bison range a side option here also) around Flathead lake and into Kalispel and Whitefish.
Drives; options include the Swan River Valley, just outside Bigfork, the outside road to Polebridge with baked goodies at the Merc, a drive on Hwy 2 down to East Glacier and back.
Look for a post from RIVERDAYS and send them a message, as they live in the valley and may have additional suggestions.

Thanks again. I think the information you provided would be good enough to plan for the vacation we are planning. Please do let us know if you remember something that you have not mentioned here.
